a pure beeswax pillar candle with a cotton wick in multiple sizes. Pillars with a three inch diameter require a bit more maintenance as they have a bigger wick. When you’ve been burning the candle long enough for the wick to start to smoke, this means it’s time to trim the wick. Extinguish the candle before you trim the wick. You can use a pair of scissors and trim it to about 1cm. Then you can relight your candle. If there’s a breeze in the room - from a fan or open window, the candle flame will move with the breeze and can cause the candle to drip or melt unevenly. You may use your hands to press the edges of the pillar candle in so the flame consumes almost all the wax, or you can maintain an outer layer of wax so the candle glows through a thin layer of wax. To keep the thin layer of wax you need to extinguish the flame once the wax is melted to almost the outer edge of the candle but not quite.
